Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE LINDQUIST It is with deep sadness that the family of Gertrude Lindquist announce that she passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Extendicare Oakview Place. Gert celebrated her 99th birthday on June 2nd in her home in St. Vital where she and Vic had lived since 1946. Victor predeceased her in 1983 after 51 years of marriage. Gert was born in Sweden and immigrated to Canada with her family as a young girl. Her large family of six brothers and two sisters eventually settled in Kenora where she met Vic. In 1932, they were married and lived in the North End before their move to St. Vital. Gert is survived by her five children; Marlene Stevens (Don), Vicki Hawkins (Terry), Susan Hawkins (Vic), Randy (Marilyn) and Rod (Ruth) 13 grandchildren; Jon (Roanna), Michael (Delina), Scott (LeeAnn), Kelli (Jeremy), Amy (Patrick), Darren, Wade (Lee-Ann), Tyler, Riley (Marc), Raechelle (Duane), Mark (Kaarin), Eric (Trish) and Matthew; and ten great-grandchildren Tanner, Brady, Delaney, Emily, Kataryna, Elias, Sophie, Emma, Zeph, Ben and Manita. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson Todd, six brothers and two sisters. Gert was a very strong, determined person, the consummate matriarch for her family. She was the tour director for the many driving trips she and Vic took with various members of the family or with brothers or her favourite sister, Marge. The family has many cherished memories of the many trips with our very special Auntie Marge and special cousins, Kathy and Bill. Gert was an avid golfer and had been a member of Niakwa Country Club for close to 50 years. Memories of golfing with mom and dad are very vivid and special for Randy and Rod. Her passion for bridge was unmatched as she would sometimes play six or seven times a week. She continued playing right up until she went in the hospital in late July. Blueberry picking was another favourite pastime, as it presented another social outing for the family. Mom will be sadly missed by her family and friends for her cheery personality, her positive spirit and the general interest in the people and things surrounding her. She adored all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in each of them. A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. on 600 Cambridge at Corydon. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sunshine fund or charity of choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
